Butter Firm and Active
CHEESE STEADIER
After a quiet opening last week during which prices receded to 79/-, the London butler market closed firm to an active demand at 82/-. Deliveries of New Zealand butter last week totalled 2022 tons, compared with 2698 tons for the previous week, and 2120 tons a year ago. Tlie quantity of New Zealand butter in store is 5285 tons, compared with 4383 tons for the previous week, and 3050 tons a year ago. The cheese market, after a quiet opening, also closed steadier at 45/- to 46/5 for white and coloured. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week totalled 20,510 crates, while the quantity in store is 76,940 crates, compared with 26,500 crates a year ago.
The Dairy Board’s London oilice reports Friday's official closing quotations as follow, those for the previous week being shown in parentheses:—
New Zealand, salted, 79/- to 82/- (82/to 84/-; Jan. 18, 1933, 65/- to 66/-1 : (79/- to 82/- equals approx. 9.25 d. f.0.b.) ; unsalted. 84/- to 86/- (84/- to 86/-; Jan. IS. 1933. 70/- to 72/-). Deliveries New Zealand, 2022 tons; in store, 5285 tons, including 553 tons ex Tuscan Star. Australian, salted, 79/- to SI/- (81/- to 82/-) ; unsalted, 82/- to 84/- (81/- to 82/-). Deliveries, Australian, 2726 tons; in store, 3317 tons. Danish, 97/- f.0.b.; US/- spot (93/-; Dutch, unsalted, 111/- to 115/-. Rowson, dated London, January IS: —Butter: New Zealand, first grade, 81/-; finest grade, 82/-. Improved demand, market generally talked much dearer on account of good demand. Cheese: New Zealand, white and coloured, 47/- per cwt. Improved demand, but do not expect much change. Our opinion Dairy Board’s new scheme of material benefit to market. The New Zealand Producers’ Cooperative Marketing Association's weekly cabled market report from London, dated January 18, is as follows: —Butter: Market has closed steady after quiet week. New Zealand finest grade, 79/- to 82/-; Danish, 116/-. Cheese: Market has improved during latter part of week. New Zealand, white and coloured, 45/- to 46/6. Minimum F. 0.8. Prices The New Zealand Dairy Produce Board has fixed the minimum prices for f.o.b. apd c.i.f. sales on the same basts as last week, namely :—Butter, 9 3-Bd.; cheese, sd. Minimum prices are" subject to agent’s selling commission of . 11 per cent. These prices are equivalent to:—Butter, 76/10 c.i.f.e.; cheese, 44/- c.i.'f.e. LONDON WOOL SALES Full Rates Maintained'' By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Cop.vrisht, London, January IS. Offerings to-day were 5325 bales, including 2645 New Zealand. About 6951 bales of Australian and New Zealand were sold. The market has a linn tone with sustained Home and Continental competition at full rates. New Zealand scoured merinos “R Company T,” 21d. highest and 20 5-Sd. average. The Bank of- New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office under date January IS: —-The sales continue with a very firm market. Second Auckland Sale The second Auckland wool sale of the season will bo held to-morrow. Cai ilogues aggregate 25.149 bales, and will be offered in the following order: — Bales.
