Lamb Prices Advance BEEF «N SHORT SUPPLY Lamb market: Eair demand with prices firmer owing to short spot stocks. Hutton market: Lightweight wethers slightly easier, but trade fair. Ewes: Demand slow. The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office, as at close of business last week:—The demand for wethers is a little better. Trade in ewes is slow. There is a moderate demand for lambs, smaller supplies having caused prices to harden. The market is short of supplies of beef and prices are nominal. Trade generally is slow. Wethers, light, 5Jd. to 6d. per lb.; wethers. heavy, 4 1-8(1. to 5 l-Sd.: Ewes, 3Jd. to 4 5-Bd. Mutton : There is a weakening tendency in the market, particularly wethers, states cabled advice received by Levin and Co., Ltd., from their London _ agents dated January 18. Compared with last weeks quotations, lamb is unchanged with the exception of second quality, which is l-Bd. per lb. higher.
