The Khedive Purchased By Sir Joseph Robinson .
Sir Joseph Robinson, Bart., tlie wellknown South African sportsman, has completed the purchase of the three-year-old colt, The Khedive, by Chief Ruler, from Egyptian Flower, and intends to race the colt at the Takapuna meeting on January 26, The Khedive, who was bred and raced by Mr. J. M. Cameron, of Hastings, will remain in that trainer's care until he is shipped to Cape Town in February. This is the fifth purchase made by the South African magnate of New Zealand thoroughbreds. The first three have raced very successfully, and his fourth purchase, a three-quarter sister to Phar Lap, was shipped direct to England, and -is now being trained there for the South African sportsman. The Khedive won the Highweight Ham dicap at the last Trentham meeting, running out the mile and a-quarter in good time. This is the third winner that Egyptian Flower has produced for her breeder. She is by Egypt, a full brother to Desert Gold, from the imported mare. Mint, by Mintagon. The price paid was a substantial one, but the actual figure has not been disclosed.
