TRANSPORT OF WINE
Employment of Tanker RESENTMENT AT ALGIERS (Received-January 16, 7,40 p.m.) London, January 16. The Algiers correspondent of “The Times” says that in order to reduce transport charges the tank steamer Bacchus arrived to load wine for Rouen. Labourers, dockers and coopers protested because this dispenses with barrels and renders idle many persons. Dockers, armed with sticks and stones, injured police when the former attempted to prevent loading.
