ESCORTED OFF COURSE
R. Naylor at Canterbury Park DAMAGES CLAIM FOLLOWS By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. (Received January 14. 7.20 p.m.) Sydney, January 14. Mr. Rufe Naylor was escorted from the Canterbury Park racecourse on Saturday by members of the racecourse detective staff after a conversation with the chairman of directors. Naylor recently succeeded in an appeal to the Full Court, which ruled that the Australian Jockey Club was not entitled to exclude him. from Randwick racecourse. Naylor subsequently attended races at Randwick and other metropolitan courses. A solicitor to-day, on behalf of Naylor, issued a writ claiming £lO.OOO damages from the Canterbury Park Racing Co., Ltd. The cause of action is not disclosed. WAIRARAPA CLUB Accounts For Summer Meeting Dominion Special -Service. Greytown, January 12. Consideration was given by the stewards of the South Wairarapa Trotting Club at its last meeting to the balancesheet of the recent summer meeting. The discussion, which was lengthy, was taken in camera. When open meeting was resumed the following statement was made: “That if satisfactory arrangements could be made for a refund of per cent, of the sum put through the totalisator at the Boxing Day meeting, the club would balance accounts. Until this has been established, the question of holding a meeting in March is held over in the meantime.”
