Registration for Barbers
Sir, —As a hairdresser I think that from recent criticism good may come for the general improvement of the hairdressing profession. In our country there are many callings where tradesmen first serve an apprenticeship, for example, of five years. Then they have to pass an examination before they practise their profession or trade. Why not this system for hairdressers? It would bring about great' benefits to both the hairdresser and the general public. As it stands now we all have our saloons registered, but I contend the operator also should be registered. It would be very interesting to know how many apprentices are learning the business end and I heir future prospects.—l am., etc., W. WILKINSON. Levin, January 9.
