“Smithy” Visits Hollywood
gIR CHARLES KINGSFORD SMITE, who a short time ago completed a most successful flight across the Pacific, was a recent visitor to the Paramount Hollywood Studios. Sir Charles was the guest of the Paramount organisation and was later taken on a tour of the studios. Photographs received at the Wellington office of Paramount reveal “Smithy” with such popular stars as Cary Grant, Frances Drake, Myrna Loy, Roscoe Karns, Gary Cooper, W. C. Fields and numerous others. He visited the set of Paramount’s forthcoming air picture, “Wings in the Dark,” and saw the cameras turn on several scenes.
