“Our Daily Bread”

A NOTHER brilliant feather has been added to the already feathery cap of King Vidor with the release of “Our Daily Bread.” The reception accorded this long-heralded film abroad, confirms the advance reports that it is a worthy companion piece for “The Big Parade,” “Street Scene” and other Vidor triumphs of the past. Taking again, as he has done before, a simple theme—in this instance that of a discouraged city couple who find their way to an abandoned farm and begin life anew, living, loving, working and fighting fate shoulder to shoulder with a colourful group of men and women like themselves, drawn from every walk of life—he develops it into a film of stunning dramatic proportions, endowed with the thousand and one little human touches which made those earlier films great and unforgettable. Vidor wrote, directed and produced “Our Daily Bread” for release by Uuited Artists.
