WEDDINGS
Jones—West The wedding was celebrated on the evening of January 1,- 1935, in the Methodist Church, Mamaku, RotoruaLine, by the Rev. Bateup, Rotorua, of Myrtle Eileen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. West, of Mamaku, and Trevor Alfred John, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Jones, South Carterton.
The bride, who entered Hie church with her father, wore a gown of cream satin beaute with bodice and sleeves of shadow lace, and an embroidered veil held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of St. Joseph’s lilies and asparagus fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Reta F. E. Jones (chief), sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Noeline P. West, sisterof the bride. Miss Jones wore a frock of shell pink crinkle crepe, had shoes and hat to match, and her bouquet was of pink sweet peas and gypsophila. iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin
lillllllllllillllllllllllllllllllilllllllllllHlllt Miss West wore powder blue crinkle crepe with shoes and hat to match her frock, and carried a bouquet of blue sweet peas and gypsophila. The best man was Mr. S. G. Andrews, Carterton, and Mr. W. A. Mischewski, Mamaku, was groomsman. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was held in the Regent Hall, Mamaku, where the guests were received by Mrs. T. West, who was wearing a navy blue marocain dress, relieved with white. Her bouquet was of red and yellow dahlias. Mr.- and Mrs. Trevor Jones left by car for a camping holiday in the north, Mrs. Jones travelling in a bottle-green suit with a swagger coat, green shoes and fawn hat. Their future home will be at South Carterton. * ♦ Swain—Ayre The wedding took place on Saturday afternoon in St. John’s Anglican Church, Featherston, of Alice, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 11. W. Ayre, Featherston, and Noel, third son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Swain, Waipawa. The Rev. W. J. Durrad performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a white lace dress over crepe suede, cut on simple lines, with cowl neck and cowl sleeves pointed over - the wrists, a row of small suede buttons being looped down the back of the dress. Her tulle veil, eaught round the head with a wreath of orange blossom, fell gracefully, forming a long train. She carried a beautiful bouquet of white lilies, carnations and stephanotes. The bridesmaids. Miss Gladys Ayre, her sister, and Miss Ina McFadzean, were dressed alike in green lace over silk, with windswept velvet sashes, hats and shoes to match. Their bouquets were of pink gladioli and carnations, Mr. Bruce Bibby, Wellington, was best man, and Sir. Peter Heal. Wellington, was groomsman. Mrs. Swain, mother of the bridegroom, presided at the organ, and while the register was being signed Miss Gentry, Khandallah. sang “Beloved, it is Morn.”
The reception was held at the Hall, where Mrs. Ayre, mother of the bride, received the guests wearing a navy and white costume and hat to match. She. carried a posy of pink roses. Mrs. Swain, mother of the bridegroom, wore a wine-coloured dress with beige hat. and carried a posy of carnations t.o tone. Mrs • Yortt, aunt of the bride, wore a nigger brown frock and hat, and carried a posy of autumn-tinted flowers.
When Mr. and Mrs Swain left by .car the bride was wearing a brown and white, spot ensemble, with white hat, shoes and bag to match.
