Women’s Cricket Test Match

In the second women’s cricket test, England, in reply to Australia’s first Innings score of 162, made 301 for five wickets, declared (Maciagan 119, Hide 71, Child 30 not out, Partridge 26 not out; K. Smith, three wickets for 42. P. Antonio two for 53_)_. Australia in their second innings made 148 (E. Shevill 36. K. Smith 27, R. Shevill 10. A. Rahner 23; Partridge six wickets for 96. Maciagan two for 35). England in the second innings made 10 for the loss of two wickets, and won by eight wickets. ’ The weather was fine and the wicket good. England outclassed their opponents in all departments, their rate of scoring being high and attractive. Miss Snowball was a splendid wicketkeeper, and Miss Maclagan’s batting yesterday was a treat to watch. Her score of 119 included five fours and 10 threes, and was made in 157 minutes. MATCH POSTPONED Barbados, January 7. The Test match, England v. West Indies, has been postponed. It will start to-morrow.
