IN WINTER’S GRIP
Intense Cold in Europe
(Received January 9, 12.5 a.m.)
London, January 8.
Intense cold is gripping Western and Central Europe, and wintry conditions prevail throughout Britain. Slight snow yesterday fell in London for the first time this winter, states a British Official Wireless message.
Heavier falls occurred in several places in the British Isles, and in many parte in England and Scotland roads are ice-bound as a result of the sudden cold spell.
