FAREWELL MESSAGE
Chief Scout at Jamboree

Melbourne, January 7.
The Chief Scout, Lord BadenPowell, .in a farewell message to the Scouts at the end of the jamboree, said: “Now we have come to the end of our jolly camp no one is more sorry than I. It is time to say good-bye. I can see from your faces you enjoy the life. Thank you for coming here.-” Presenting a boomerang of friendship to the leader of each contingent, Lord Baden-Powell attached a message, saying: “Keep alive the memories of friendship you made at this happy gathering. Act as apostles of Scouting by spreading its lessons far and wide. By so doing you will be helping to promote peace on earth and good will among men.” About 1200 Scouts left to-day for a cross-country hike to Gilwell Park, the Victorian Scouts’ hill camping ground in the Dandenong Ranges. They will arrive on Thursday and gather round the campfire for an evening talk over the events of the jamboree. Forty of the New Zealanders are participating in the hike to Gilwell. the others remaining for shorter hikes and sightseeing.
