Warm Conditions Continue The weather in Wellington yesterday was mainly overcast, with frequent periods of bright sunshine. The conditions were very warm and muggy. There was a strong wind from the north. Brilliant sunshine and almost a total absence of wind resulted in a further day of extreme heat at Masterton. The shade temperature at 1.30 p.m. was 88.2 degrees. Strong sunshine and a high temperature prevailed at Palmerston North, a cooling wind blowing from the north-west. The temperature at 9 a.m. was 82.6 degrees, and by 2 p.m. it had reached 93.1 degrees—a record for this summer, and the highest since 1921. At 5 p.m. the temperature was 90.2 degrees. The wind was fresh from the north-west. The barometer fell sharply during the day, and registered 29.54 in. at 5 p.m. Perfect summer weather was experienced at Dunedin, although the sky was eloudy for the greater part of Ihe day. A light northerly breeze prevailed. The thermometer registered 82 degrees at midday, and the maximum temperature for the day was 86 degrees. ,
