FATAL ACCIDENT

Man Struck by Lorry

By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, January 7. A fatal accident occurred to-night in the city, the victim being Lala Jina, a middle-aged Indian tobacconist. He was knocked down by a motor-truck immediately in front of his shop and place of residence, receiving a fracture of the skull and internal injuries. He had made a purchase at a shop on the opposite side of the street, and was returning to his business when he attempted to avoid a truck which was being driven by a Maori, William Edwards, Mt. Roskill The driver swerved sharply to the right to prevent a collision, but Lala Jina ran backward and was struck by the running board. The accident happened in the centre of the road.

Deceased was a married man, his wife living in India.
