STRUCK BY TRAIN
Elderly Woman Killed

A fatal accident occurred at a railway crossing about four chains south of Taupiri station this afternoon, an elderly pedestrian, Mrs. Ada Roach, being struck and killed instantaneously by a train which leaves Frankton at 4 p.m. for Auckland. Mrs. Roach was the wife of Mr. A. Roach, service station proprietor, of Taupiri.
A motor lorry driver, Mr. F. Jerome, saw a train approaching when Mrs. Roach was crossing the line, and he endeavoured to warn her by shoutin". Mrs. Roach was following her usual custom of walking to the Post Office for letters.
