Debts Services Paid (Received January 6. 7.20 p.m.) Rio de Janeiro, January 5. All services on foreign debts due on January 1 in compliance with the schedule laid down in the Arauha Debt Plan were remitted to-day by the Brazilian Government through the Banco de Brazil.
A cable dated January 3 stated: “Brazil wants to pay her foreign debts,” said the Minister of Finance, Senor Costa, “but lias no foreign exchange to do it.” Lack of bills of exchange will prevent Brazil paying this year's services totalling £7,000.000, on her foreign debt.
