INCREASED TONNAGE

Auckland Figures For 1934 By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, January 5. The tonnage of shipping that entered the Port of Auckland, in 1934 was the greatest that has been recorded by the Auckland Harbour Board during the past five years. In 1930, 6853 vessels, of 4,400,651 gross tons, visited the port, whereas last year the tonnage was 4,894,771, although the number of vessels was only 5889. This may be ascribed to the larger type of ship now in commission. The tonnage was heaviest in January, March, and December.
