BOWLS AT PETONE
Hutt Valley Tournament
Excellent bowling was seen on the Central green at Petone on Saturday when the Hutt Valley tournament was concluded in brilliant weather. The final was won by Hadland’s team, which defeated Parker’s team by 20 to 11. Both were Hutt representatives. In the first round of section play the rinks skipped by Lowry and Parker respectively played exceptionally well, and on the day were far too good for the opponents. In the semi-final Parker and Hadwiu came out easy winners. The final between the two head teams was fairly even up to the eleventh head, when Hadwin’s rink practically took charge and eventually ran out winners. A notable feature was that this was the first time the Hutt club team has succeded in winning the tourney, which has been In existence for thirteen years. At th® conclusion of the play Mr. W. E. Pawson, president of the Hutt Valley tournament committee, presented the trophies, and congratulated the winners, who were accorded three hearty cheers. Thanks were tended to thd various clubs for the very fine greens provided, the ladies for supplying afternoon tea, and the umpires. The president also was accorded a round of cheers.
