NEW YEAR GREETED
Customary Revels in
London
(Received January 1, 11 p.m.)
London, January 1.
What the public already know as ‘silver jubilee year” was ushered in with the customary revels at Piccadilly Circus, St. Paul’s Churchyard and other meeting places. Scotsmen gathered in thousands in front of St. Paul’s. A jovial crowd sang “Auld Lang Syne” as the cathedral clock boomed out midnight. The “no hooting” order was ignored -by motorists.
