DEGREE AWARDED

Doctor of Veterinary Science Advice that he has been awarded the degree of doctor of veterinary science for his thesis on ‘‘Bovine Contagious Mastitis" has been received by Mr. C. S. M. Hopkirk, officer in charge of the Department of Agriculture’s Veterinary Laboratory at Wallaceville, from the registrar of the Melbourne University.

The examiners state that ‘‘The thesis bears evidence of much original worn and is a valuable contribution to our knowledge of the disease in question, particularly the aspects concerned with the diagnosis of obscure cases and methods which may be utilised in control. It is a record, not only of extensive work, but manifests a degree of originality and initiative which is always necessary in the study of any disease."

Mr. Hopkirk is leaving for Melbourne on Janiiary 4 to attend a veterinary conference and also as president of section L and a delegate of the Wellington Philosophical Society to attend the Australian and New Zealand Science Congress. /
