HUTT ROAD ACCIDENT

Car Skids and Crashes Into Concrete Pole

“While proceeding along the Hutt Road in a southerly direction yesterday afternoon a five-seater motor-car developed a sudden skid, crashed into a concrete pole at the side of the road, and finished up turned toward the opposite direction. The driver, who was the only occupant, was cut about the head and was driven into town in another motor-car.

The side of the vehicle which struck the pole was fairly extensively damaged, while the front wheels were wrenched out of alignment. Broken glass from the windscreen was scattered about the footpath.

The bitumen on the road at the time was wet on account of rain that commenced to fall about two hours earlier.

Inquiries by “The Dominion” last evening failed to.show who the driver was. The hospital authorities stated that he had not been admitted, while the police advised that the accident had not been reported to them.
