WELLINGTON LAW SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Wellington District Law Society was held on Monday. Mr. H. H. Cornish presided over a large attendance of members. Officers were elected as follow:—President, Mr. H. F. Johnston; vice-presi-dent, Mr. C. G. White; treasurer, Dlr. A. A. Wylie; auditor, Mr. J. S. Hanna (re-elected) ; ordinary members, Messrs. H. H. Cornish, R. Kennedy, P. Levi, W. Perry, D. S. Smith, and G. G. G. Watson. The report for the year ended December 31, 1927, stated that in the district there were 317 practitioners. Of this number 258 practise in the city nad suburbs and 89 in the country towns. The increase for the year was 25. There were 27 practitioners elected to membership of the Law Society during the year. The Easter holidays to be observed were considered, and it was decided that the law offices in the city should be closed from 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, until Saturday, April 14, both inclusive.
