AFRICAN RUGBY TOUR

CARLETON REPLACES COOK A meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union was held yesterday, Mr. S. S. Deans presiding. The selectors notified that S. R. Carleton, of Canterbury, had been chosen to replace A. E. Cooke in the New Zealand team for the South African tour. Carleton has notified that he is available. The chairman explained that the New Zealand team would leave Wellington ■ lor South Africa by the s.s. Marama on April 13. Mr. Dean further stated that the New South Wales team would arrive at Auckland on March 26, and the New Zealand Union would entertain the visitors on their arrival. Mr. R. O. Martin, chairman of the management committee of the New South Wales Rugby Union, will accompany the team, and while in Wellington will confer with the management committee of the New Zealand Union upon matters affecting the game at a special meeting on March 21.
