ASSAULT ALLEGED
CIVIL CASE DISMISSED. Palmerston North, February 28. Before Mr. J. L’. Stout, S.M., in the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court this morning, Raymond Webby, a contractor, of Palmerston, claimed from Joseph H. Collis, a blacksmith, of Linton, and his brother, Alfred Collis, a farm labourer, of Linton, the sum of £lO2 15s. special and general damages for an alleged assault on plaintiff by defendants. This assault,. plaintiff stated, had taken place at Linton on December 2, 1927, and had been entirely without provocation. As a result, plaintiff had suffered severe injuries necessitating medical attention, while he had 'also been kept from work for a period of five weeks Air. Relliug appeared for plaintiff, and Air. Ongley represented defendants, who entered a complete denial of the charges Considerable evidence was heard by the Alagistrate, the case occupying several hours. The case was dismissed, no award as to costs being made.
