BEAUTIFYING SCHOOL GROUNDS

CONFERENCE WITH INSTRUCTORS Inspectors of the Education Department recently had a conference with the agricultural instructors under the Wellington Education Board, when it was decided to do everything possible in the direction of beautifying school grounds. The instructors are to prepare a list of schools with forestry plots and the establishment of further plots is to be promoted meanwhile. It was agreed that the establishment of field clubs be encouraged, but that tho Education Department be recommended to approve of the supervision of the clubs solely by the board’s instructors in agriculture. A recommendation was made to tho Wellington Education Board that the necessary laying out and fencing,of garden plots be carried out as expeditiously as possible after receipt of tho inspectors’ or instructors’ recommendations. It was decided that the Wellinirlon district provide an exhibit for the Wellington Winter Show, and that the instructors so arrange their itineraries as to enable them to be present in Wellington at the time for the purpose of arranging and displaying the exhibits received from schools.

Canadian buying has practically ceased, but Australia is expected to do some business in butter before Juno 15, when flic duty will be increased from 2d. to 6d. per lb. The cheese market for New Zealand in London remains very satisfactory.
