DEATH OF INFANT

By Telegraph.—Press association. Hawera, February 24. The Coroner. Mr. Barton, gave his verdict yesterday regarding the death of the infant Ailsa Bremner at Waverley on January 16. Death, he said, was due to natural causes, predisposing factors being digestive trouble and teething. On these conditions there supervened a disturbance created by heating a meta tablet and tlie necessary treatment thereafter. He was satisfied that death was not caused by the ■ tablet. Mr. Barton added that the tablets contained poison. metaldehyde, which was easily fatal tu its effects on children. These tablets ana similar compounds should be sold only in containers. with a printed statement of their toxic ingredients and a household antidote tor such poisons.
