FIRES
DAIRY FACTORY DESTROYED. BY TBPECUA PH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION. New Plymouth, February 23. Early this morning the Royal Oak Cheese Factory at Omata was completely destroyed by fire, apparently originating with the electric motor driving the fan in the cooling room. The building was insured for £2OOO and the machinery for £l5OO. The Control Board had a policy over 170 crates of cheese, which were also lost. An hour or two later an eight-roomed house close by was also destroyed. It was occupied by Mr Evan Haine and owned by Mr. Donald Huse. The insurances are £lOOO on the building and £2OO on the furniture. This fire had no connection with the factory fire. BIG BLAZE AT PERTH. Perth, February 23. Three buildings were destroyed bv fire at Bruce Rock. The damage is estimated at £20,000. The need for protection against fire loss is obvious.
