MANAWATU CALEDONIAN SOCIETY

Palmerston North, February 20. ”■ The annual meeting of the Manawatu Caledonian Society was held on Saturday night, the president (Col. J. M. Rose) presiding over a large attendance of members. The president’s report showed that the annual sports gathering, as also the annual Scotch concert, had proved highly successful. The balance-sheet also went to show that the society was in a sound financial position. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —Patron, Mr. J. Balsillie; president, Col. J. M. Rose; vice-presidents, Messrs. D. Munro, D. B. McEwen, J. Marshall, J. Ferguson; directors, Messrs. J. R. Anderson, Alex. Anderson, D. Buchanan, \V Cruden, J. B. Ferguson, W. J. Frew, G Glendinning, J. F. Grant, W. H. Gordon, J. Hastings, F. Lucas, A. Matheson, D. McDowell, T. H. Simpson, and Major Ashworth; treasurer, Mr. H. L. Young; auditor, Mr. W. Turner
