CAR CONVERSION
THREE YOUNG MEN FINED.
BY Telegeaph.—Feess association. Dargaville, February 9. Three young men, Ivor Maurice Vause, George Wakeim, and Douglas McDonald, were charged in the Magistrate s Court this morning, before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., that they did, without ’colour of right, on January 29, convert a car to their own use in such a manner as not to bt guilty of theft, also with the theft of. a tin of benzine. Ihe car taken had been left for repairs at a local garage, where Vause worked, and was driven, by him, accompanied by the other two, on extensive trips of the district. Vause and McDonald pleaded guilty, and Wakelin withdrew his plea of not guilty. Vause was firfcd .£2O, and McDonald and Wakebn XlO each. Application for suppression of the names was refused by the Magistrate, who said that the offence was becoming too common, and the publication ot names was one of the best means of stopping it.
