ISLAND BAY SCHOOL
PICNIC AT MAIDSTONE PAJIK. The annual picnic of the Island Bay School was held at Maidstone Park under conditions that ensured an enjoyable day’s outing to the large number ot scholars and parents who attended. Trams conveyed the children from the bay to the station and home at nignt. The arrangements were officially curried out by the picnic committee and the officials were;—Secretary and controller of sports. Mr. N. A. Ingram: handicappers, Messrs. Rockell and Ricketts; starter. Mr. Penlington; touch judges, Messrs. Kirby and Cook; record clerk, Mr. Glensor; cordial stewards, Messrs. Millar, Tomlin, and Bidell. The following are the results •.—Standard I. girls: M. Gilchrist, 1; Pat Bush, 2. Standard 1. boys: Robin Hood, 1; Darcy Weekley. 2. Standard 2, girls: Joyce Allanay, 1; Maisie Ransom, 2. Standard 2, boys: Bruce Handcock, 1; Ronald Averv. 2. Standard 3. girls: Nancv Hill, 1; Doreen Beu, 2. Standard 5, boys: Ron. Holland, 1; Dick Glensor, 2. Standard 4, girls: Adclaine Hare and May Clements, 1; Rose Morrisson, 2. Standard 4, boys: Con. Three-Legged Race for girls up to 10 years; Dorothy Graham and Adele Morrison, 1; Kitty Crockford and May Clements, 2. ThreeLegged Race for girls over 10 years: Jean Purvis and Helen Avery 1; Peggy Logan and Winsome Andrews 2. Three-Legged Race for boys up to 10 years: Dan Gilchrist and Colin Brown. 1; Arthur Howan and Chas. Bailey, 2. Three-Legged Race for boys over 10 years: Stan Webb and Herbert Corbett, 1; Keith Andrews and Magnus Lennie. 2. Single Ladies’ Race: Miss Stella Corbett, 1; Miss Sutherland, Races for the Infants’ School were conducted by Miss Aitcheson (headmistress) and the staff of the school. Mr. C. B. McDougall congratulated the winners of the various races and also the committee for the efficient management ol the picnic.
