In tho districts surrounding To Awa mutu, farmers are busily engaged haymaking, and the mdications are that considerably more hay for winter use will be saved this season than ever before (states an exchange). Before Christmas, many farmers decided in favour of ensilage, remembering their unfortunate experience last summer, when showery weather interfered with haymaking. and. in many cases, thg hay was stacked before it was properly dry. Tho result was that dozens of stacks were dostroved by spontaneous combustion. Tho long spell of dry weather being experienced precludes any likelihood of a repetition of these losses this s ear.
