SHANNON NOTES
The local school picnic, which is to be held in Plimmerton, will take place on February 18, and preparations are now in hand.
A very pleasant evening was spent at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Franks on Saturday, when between thirty and forty guests gathered to say farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Watterston, residents of about eighteen years’ standing, who are leaving the district. During' the evening, Mr. A. Blackwood, on behalf of those present, presented the guests with tokens of esteem. Mr.' Watterston, in replying, thanked all for their kind wishes, and trusted that thev would not lose sight of their many Shannon friends. Mr. and Mrs. T. Watterson and family left at the week-end for their new home at Lower Hutt. Mr. and Mrs. Brabant, of Cambridge, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Brann. Miss Allen (Te Kuiti) and Miss M. Brown, and Miss V. Quin, both of Shannon, have been appointed to the staff of the local school.
Miss G. Jolies is home on three weeks’ leave.
