JEWISH GREETINGS

/ TO ANZAC TROOPS Dominion Special. Auckland, December 9. Christmas messages from the Jewish community of Richon, Leziou, Palestine, to the men of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles and the Australian Light Horse have been received by the “New Zealand Herald,” the writer being Mr. Leo Antchislawsky, who signs himself “Old Grateful Farmer.” Each year since the Atizac troops left Palestine a similar message has been received. “The population of Richon Leziou and his district,” runs the letter, “after eight years of separation, sends their cordial salute on the occasion of Christmas to the chivalrous Anzacs. Happy Christmas, Happy New Year.” (Australian and New Zealand mounted troops camped at Richon Leziou). “You won the highest praise for your splendid valour right throughout the campaign, and no less than your valour in battle was your chivalry to the people, of the country. How much of cheerfulness and simplicity of character have vou carried away. We wish you all well. We wish you a safe and pleasant life.” The writer then quotes a letter received by him from a padre upon an occasion when he had made a present of oranges and almonds to the troops. Mr. Antiscliislawsky is anxious that his tribute should have the widest publicity.
