WAREHOUSE THEFT
YOUTHS TAKE REVOLVERS AND AMMUNITION Dominion Special. Christchurch, December 9. Last evening a constable caught two youths in the act of breaking into a city dwelling, and he took them to the police station. When they were searched it was found that one of them was carrying a fully loaded revolver. The youths, William Alfred Meagher and Jack Sidney Valentine, appeared before Air. If. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. Meagher was charged with carrying a pistol beyond the limits of his home without having a licence to do so, and both were jointly charged with breaking and entering by night, on December 2, the warehouse of H. Reece, Ltd., and stealing goods to the value of £l4. Chief-Detective Gibson asked for a remand until December 1-1, and said that he would strongly oppose any suggestion of bail. The youths admitted breaking into the warehouse and stealing two revolvers and 200 rounds of ammunition.
A remand was granted accordingly.
