WANGANUI NOTES
Wanganui, November 28. Mr. and Mrs. John Randal celebrated their diamond wedding, when there was a large gathering of friends and relatives at their residence, ‘‘Titchfield,” Somme I’arade, Aramoho. Among those present were 18 children and grandchildren. Ou Wednesday next Mr. D. Jones, chairman of the New Zealand, Meat Producers’ Board, and Mr. R Forsyth, London manager of tbe board, will address a meeting of farmers iu Wanganui. Ralaua and the' concert party have returned from the East Coast tour. The hailstorm at midday in Wanganui waa mild compared with the visitation a few miles r.wav. Ou St. John’s Hill tbe laud was thickly coated, and spoutings on bouses were filled with hail. One of tbe oldest, residents stated to a reporter that he could not recall anything like it for this time of (he year. The payout by tlie Wangaehu and Okoia Dairy Companies last month was Is. each case. Each nt these companies paid out Is A-i. for the corresponding period last vear. Owing to the state of the grounds, all local sports were postponed to-day. The new memorial organ in the chapel of tlie Collegiate School is now tn regular use. The instrument, costing about £3OOO, is the gift of, the old boys The organ, which was built by Messrs Lawton and Osborne. o( Aberdeen and Onehunga, was partly constructed in tlie firm’s factory at Onehungn. The organ has three manuals of 61 notes each, pedals of 32 notes, and 40 stops.
