Whitebait fishing is specially profitable in South Westland, whence large supplies are sent north (states an exchange). Most of the catch is railed to Christchurch or forwarded to Weilinwton. Nevertheless, the canning factories have been kept busy, and there is a good quantity for export. Trout fishin" has been much more successful this rear. Qninnat salmon have again reappeared tn Take Ranieri, where good sport is obtainable.
