An athletic meeting was conducted at the sports grounds this evening by the Manawatu Athletic and Cycling Club. The results are as follow;— B Grade Cycle Race, One Mile.—A. York (svds.),’ 1; D. W. Prouse (scr.), 2; W. Hewitt (20yds.), . Won by tiiree lengths. Time, 2min. 30sec. Six starters.
100 Yards Flat.—L. Cockery (7yds.), 1; A. Weston (4yds.), 2; R. Walker (4yds.), 3. Time, 10 2-ssec. Three starters. A Grade One Mile Cycle Race.—J. Hanley (90yds.), 1; C. Casey (70yds.), 2; S. Cotter (90yds.), 3. Won by a length. Time, 2mi*. ISsec. Six starters. 100 Yards Flat (under IS).—Burt, 1; Samson, 2; Turnbull, 3. SUB-CENTRE’S DECISIONS. A meeting of the Manawatu Subcentre of the Wellington Amateur Athletic and Cycling Association was held to-night, Mr. W. T. Eyre presiding. Permission was granted to conduct a sports meeting on Easter Saturday. It was decided to consider later in the season a suggestion by Mr. J. A. Cooksley, that a test road race be held prior to the Wellington-Palmer-ston event, with a view to ascertaining possible nominations. The West Coast (North Island) Centre advised that Bulls had been granted March 5 and Turakina March 19 for sports meetings. The Linton Club was granted permission to hold its annual sports meet ing on February 23, while March 12 was tentatively allotted to Sandon.
