FIRE IN CAMBRIDGE TERRACE
FAIR AMOUNT OF DAMAGE DONE A fire broke out in a two-story wood and iron shop and dwellinghouse at 34 Cambridge Terrace, shortly before . 9 o’clock yesterday morning, and though the brigade arrived soon after the alarm and put the flames out before they had gained a strong hold, a fair amount of damage by fire, heat, and water was done to the premises. The building, which is, owned by the John Swinson Company, is insured in the Standard Office for £750. Most of the damage was to a room at the rear of the shop, which is occupied by Mr. Joseph Ladkiu, a bootmaker. His stock and machinery are insured in the Queensland office for £350. Slight damage by heat and water was done to the dwelling-rooms, which are occupied by Mr. Alfred J. Kennedy. The contents are insured for £l5O in the Alliance office.
