PRESENTATION TO DUNEDIN
BRITISH APPRECIATION OF
exhibition. Dominion Special. Dunedin, November 18. The Mayor announced at a meeting of the Citv Council last night that he had received a further letter from the Minister of Internal Affairs announcing in the following terms a presentation to the city:—-“I have the honour to inform \ou that advice lias been received through His Excellency the Gover-nor-General from the Right Hon. J. G. Coates. Prime Minister, thatt His Majesty’s Government has presented a statue of St. George to the City of Dunedin as a memento of British participation in the Exhibition, and that His Royal Highness the Duke of Cork has consented to make the presentation on the occasion of his visit to Dunedin in March next. Will you kindly arrange, therefore, for the ceremony to be included in the Dunedin programme ?” The M.-ivor said it was very nice to think that the British Government had been good enough to mark its appreciation of the effort that was forth in Dunedin during the regent Exhibition, and he was sure that the oiyscntatioii would be very much appro rated.
