LIFE-SAVING

MANAWATU SUB-CENTRE MOOTED. Palmerston North, November 18. A reporter was informed to-day that a movement is on foot in Palmerston North to form a Manawatu sub-centre of the Royal Life-Saving Society. A large number of swimming enthusiasts in the town are keenly interested in.the project and are working to bring about the desired end, a meeting in regard to the matter having been arranged for next week. It is pointed out that the advantage to be derived from the formation of a sub-centre governing the Manawatu is that the organisation will be enabled to conduct its own examinations and award certificates and other trophies independent of the Wellington body, which at present has jurisdiction over the Manawatu.
