BREACHES OF AWARDS
Mr. R. T. Bailey, representing the Labor Department, brought two prosecutions for breaches of awards in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M. Thomas Brennan, licensee of the Britannia Hotel, was charged with failing to pay an employee proportionate holiday allowance under the Wellington Licensed Hotels Award, and with failing to pay special overtime to several employees who had worked on King’s Birthdav. The defendant was fined £1 on each charge Messrs. B. and D. Gerondis, who were also charged with failing to pay an employee proportionate holiday allowance, were convicted and fined £l.
