NEW MILK DEPOT
SHOULD SOMEONE VISIT AMERICA ? Quite a long discussion in committee took place at last week’s meeting of the City Council on the matter of the proposed new central milk depot for the municipal milk department. Practically the council is committed to the new depot, and a fine site in Tory Street, south of Vivian Street, has been partly secured for the purpose. That being the case, the lay-out and equipment of the station must be given every consideration, and a question that arose at the meeting was whether the council shounld depute someone to viist the chief centres of America to secure the latest ideas on lay-out and equipment. After a lengthy discussion it was resolved not to send anvone at present, but to write to various (•'•litres where a. similar system of handling milk is in vogue to that of Wellington, seeking information as to the latest ideas in milk stations.
