On tho motion of Mr. Grundy it was decided that the schools should reopen after tho summer vacation on February 7. In accordance with notice, Mr. White moved that a return be presented to the board showing the amount of moneys spent, and the purposes for same, on the individual schools of tho city and suburbs during the past two years. Mr. London seconded the motion.
Mr. McCallum proposed that the words "and tho purposes for same” should lie struck out of the motion. It was highly improper for new members to come to the board and question payments which had beafi made in the past. All payments’ made by tho board had been passed by an auditor. It was impertinence for new members to come and criticise what had been done in the past. Mr. Harkness: The new members were sent hero by critics.
Sir. Grundy seconded the amendment, which was carried. The chairman remarked thai any member of the board could at any time obtain any particulars as io expenditure he desired upon application to the secretary of the board.
