QUEEN MARGARET’S COLLEGE CONCERT
There was a good attendance of parcuts and. friends at Queen Margaret’s College in Hobson Street, on Tuesday afternoon, when a bright little concert was given by tho musical pupils. The first part was opened by the merry part song “Let the Hills Resound” by tho singing class. “The Land of I Dunno Where” was sung by Joan Wighton, and Jean McNeil sang "Break o’ Day.” Pianoforte solos, duets, etc., were played by Misses W. Wilson, G. K. McCaw, L. Parker, G. Noble-Adams, Betty Menard, Nancy Grey,. Peggy Wilson, Olive Munt, and Ailsa Turner. Tho singing class also sang “The Harvester” and 1 . “Will You Walk?” The second part was the more interesting on account of the greater variety of items in tho programme. Miss Muriel Smith played th® “Coronach” of Barrett, and Percy Grainger’s “Handkerchief Dance”; Miss Kathleen Smith contributed a violin eolo; Miss Leslie Burden sang the cradle song “Farjeon”; and tho singing class was heard to advantage in “The Rain Fairies” and "Happy Song”; Misses Olivo Munt, Gladys Kilgour, and Ailsa Turner played pianoforte solos. The entertainment concluded with the partsong “Keep on Hoping.” after which' the school song (composed by Claude Haydon) was sung with splendid spirit. The Rev. Dr. Gibb expressed his appreciation of the very enjoyable entertainment that had been given. It showed that in this, as in other departments, the instruction ait the college was sound. The visitors were asked to inspect samples of tho drawing, painting, designing, enamel, and needlework executed’ by tho students during tho year, which reflected credit on those concerned. The annual distribution of prizes is to take place this evening at St. John’s schoolroom.
