INCREASED TRAIN SERVICE

EXPRESSES ON MAIN TRUNK

The Railway Department is making provision to cope with the-holiday traffic during Christmas and new year, and according to Mr. R. W. McVilly, the General Manager of. Railways, there will be plenty of train accommodation for all the passengers who .are . expected. Holiday excursion, tickets will be issued from' December 14. and they can be used, f<m travel on and after -December 16. They are available for return up to February 11. Practically double the present number of trains wi.ll run“between Wellington and Auckland. There will be three through expresses from Wellington on December 16. 19, 20. 21, 22. 27, and 28, January 2,3, 4, and 5. Two expresses will be put on on December 17, 24, .26, 29, 30, 31, and January 6 and 7, and one night train on Christmas Day and January 1 and 2. An extra train wdl run ■ from Palmerston North to Auckland on December 23 and . 24. , From Auckland through traniS will, b? run as follow i-Thrce on December 19. 20, 21, 22, 23, 27. and 29, and January 2, 3. 4, and 5; two on December 16, IS, 25. 26, 30, and January 1,6, and 8; one on December 17 and 31 and January 7 An extra train will'run from Auckland to Palmerston North on December 22 and 23. The return excursion fares are ap- j proximately one-third m|>re than the Ordinary single fares. No one but a passenger will be allowed on the platform. Exceptions will be made for those who are attending invalids or others to whom help is essential, and permits will be issued to the attending person on application to the booking office.
