STATUS OF EGYPT
BREAKDOWN OF NEGOTIATIONS DELEGATES LEAVING LONDON By Telegraph—Pr ion Association—Copyright (Rec. November 20, 11.5 p.m.) London, November 19. In consequence of the collapse of the Egyptian negotiations, Adly Pasha (Premier of Egypt) and the other delegates will leave to-morrow. The continued presence of military in Egypt is only one cause of the breakdown, an equally important cause being Lord Curzon’s decision not to relinquish effective political control. . The Foreign Office deprecates the premature and piecemeal disclosure of the contents of the proposed agreement and correspondence between them and the Egyptian delegates before the documents are published officially simultanously in England and Egypt. Meanwhile the Egyptian Nationalists are continuing their propaganda, attempting to influence English opinion in favour of the view that independence should be given to Egypt.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
