THE ARBUCKLE CASE
TRIAL OPENED
(Rec. November 19. 5.5 p.m.) San Francisco, November 18. The Arbuckle trial has opened. The prosecution presented an opening statement which reviewed the story of the hotel party, and promises to show that Arbuckle not only outraged Miss Rappe, but tortured her indescribably. 'I he Judge announced that the jury would be locked up throughout the case. Arbuckle said: "1 am satisfied with the jury, and I am glad that there are women on it as I want to be vindicated Fv women ns well as t>y meh.” —Atis.-N”. Cable Assn. (Rec. November 20, 5.5 p.m.) San Francisco, November ;9. The Arbuckle defence scored two points when cros.s-examining the prosecution’s medical witnesses. One doctor admitted that bruises found on Miss Kappe’s body imfjht nave been made after death.
