STOLEN MAIL
THREE MEN PLEAD GUILTY. Bv Teleeranh —Pre is Association. Taumarunui, November 11. In connection with a series of thefts of mail matter from the-Post Office here, Edgar Gilbert, James Elliott, and Gregory Onion appeared before Justices, of the Peace on several charges of stealing monev. fountain pens, a watch, pencils, a pencil case, teaspoons, and postal notes. One charge against Elliott was for stealing .£8 in money from a letter sent by a settler to the Bank of New Zealand. The letter failed to reach the bank. Detective Cummings said that from fifty to one hundred complaints 'had been received regarding missing packets, but steps had now been taken to prevent a recurrence of the trouble. Gilbert pleaded guiltv to four charges, and was committed for trial. Onion pleaded guilty to two charges, -and was,ordered to come un for sentence when called upon. Elliott pleaded guilty to four charges, and was committed for trial.
