ACCIDENT AT OI’OUTAMA MEN’S CLOTHING FOUND By Telegraph—T’rese Association. Wairoa, October 28. Tho police received a telephone message from Opoutama stating that a portion of tho clothing of tho missing men had been found on the beach. Trousers and braces found belonged to Logan, and a hat to Nelson. A telegram received from Wairoa on Tuesday stated that at 6.30 o’clock Sergeant Wade received a telephone message confirming an earlier rumour that a fishing launch party of two was missing. Tho launch was found ou the Opoutama Beach, near Waikokopu. It appears that tho launch left Wairoa at 9 a.m. on Monday, manned by Robert Logan (a married mau with six children) and Frank Nelson (a returned soldier and unmarried), both experienced fishormqn. It came on to blow very hard in the night, and the craft was seen at anchor off Waikokopu between 8 and 10 p.m. This morning the launch was found on the Opoutama Beach. Her deck and fittings had been smashed, and benzine tins were scattered along the beach, but otherwise the hull was intact. There was no sign of the two men.
