SCHEME TO HARNESS LAKE TEKAPO
By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, October 11. Tho Public Works Department, having luid its attention drawn io tho scheme of Mr. H. Hall, architect, of Timaru, for harnessing Lake Tekapo by means of a tunnel ono mile long through tho lake dam, giving a fall of 80 feet, owing to tho Circuitous course of the river, instructed Mr. P. W. Furkert (Chief Engineer) to make nn inspection of tho lake from Mr. Hall’s point of view. A party of about {twenty county councillors and others from Geraldine and Waimato accompanied Mr. Furkert to the lake today. Tho Chief Engineer said that from a cursory inspection the scheme appeared quite feasible, and Mr. Hall had not overstated the possibilities.
